Random Thoughts - Signs
- If doors are marked "Exit Only," then why do they have sensors that trigger the doors for people who are going the wrong way?
- Why do we have signs that warn us, "Winds May Exist," without making us that physics is ignoring reality?
- Have you noticed that there are deer crossing signs where the deer looks like it is running and others where it seems like it is dancing?
- Why do signs tell us "Do Not Enter" when actually, we are not technically entering something, more like passing through?
- Why don't people who post signs warn you that you are under surveillance and NOT expect a song and dance routine?
- Why do we have signs that say, "Fireplace is Hot," but no signs exist telling us the freezer is cold?
- How many signs should a tourist trap be allowed to have within a 20-mile radius?
- Have you ever seen a sign so far away that you wanted to see what it said? Only to find that when go got close enough to read it, it states, "No, Trespassing, Violators Will Be Shot."
- Why do we have icons for pretty much every sign except for Stop Signs, Yield Signs, Exit Signs, Mileage Signs, and Speed Limit signs?
- Shouldn't we have signs for gas stations on the highway that warn us their prices are like a sharp stick in the eye?
- Even better, shouldn't we have the same for all eateries and places to spend the night? Like a puking emoji would warn us that the food is not that great or a ghost giving us the heads up that many have died in most of the rooms offered?
- Have you realized that whoever installed the "Keep off the Grass" sign was standing in the grass at that time?
- Have you ever looked at the sign that says, "Please Wait to Be Seated," and thought it would be a good idea to put down the average standing around the time you could expect?
- What don't we have scaled symbols in different counties/townships that show the percent chance you have of getting pulled over?
- When you look at wait times for an amusement ride and mentally argue whether or not they are over-optimistic or over pessimistic?
- Have you ever wondered just how many things you could get resolved, away with, or taken care of when reading, "Please Ring for Assistance?"
- Why do some states welcome you when you cross their border, but don't bother to tell you how much they are going to miss you on your way out?
- Why do people post signs that say, "Not Responsible for Stolen/Lost Goods," since it would be the responsibility of the person who took your stuff? Well, unless it was the people who put the sign up who heisted your belongings.
- Why don't we have more colorful traffic signs? Was it when they were first created, there was a very, very limited palette?
- Have you ever wondered how previous generations even survived with all of the reading material that confronts us today?
