You Are Such a Man

A friend of mine said that his wife told him, "You are such a man," and was wondering whether or not that was a compliment of some sort. This got me to thinking as to when we of the male gender are reminded of our sexual assignment whether or not we are in fact being complimented. My best guess is that it depends on the situation. Many of the male gender have difficulty picking up on the tone of the female being very important when interpreting this simple phrase. So, for those who don't know the difference between sarcasm and an honest compliment, here are a few situations to begin with.

Examples of sarcasm and/or exasperation:

We are such a man when we

• are trying to fix something mechanical, electrical or plumbing related and make it worse.
• get caught speeding, running a red light or any other traffic violation (soon after being reminded/told not to by our mates) by the local constabulary.
• purchase the latest electric tool and/or electronic gadget.
• forget any important date / anniversary in the relationship.
• have no clue the reason for a shoe, sweater, and/or purse collection.
• fall asleep during Dancing With the Stars or any similar show of the genre.
• feel that watching a sporting event is more important than going to a craft show.
• think that a blowing of the nose is a signal for wanting sex. (you can also add actions such as wanting to take a shower after doing a workout, leaving the room and even breathing)
• pass gas and want you to rate it on a scale of "nada dude" to "I just threw up in my mouth"

Examples when it is a compliment:

We are such a man when we

• do a chore and/or favor after only being asked/ordered once.
• compliment hair/shoes/purse/sweater and mean it.
• remember when important dates are weeks in advance without having to look at the highlighted dates on the refrigerator calendar .
• use coupons in the store.
• warm their side of the bed before they climb into it.
• curl their toes without complaining about all of the extra work.
